The Murray City Planning Commission voted to approve a conditional‑use permit for Salt Lake Stronghold, a private gym to be located at 4395 South 500 West in the Bonneville Business Park.
Planner David Rogers said the site is about 3.59 acres and the unit will be just over 3,000 square feet; he noted parking requirements equal eight stalls and the site provides 16 stalls, saying the “site exceeds the requirement.” Rogers recommended approval subject to six conditions. Applicant Charles Pigott confirmed the address and said the business is an established concept in a new location and that the owners can comply with the conditions.
During public comment resident Lauren Wheeland said she prefers private gyms, telling the commission, “I don't like public gyms.” Commissioners moved and seconded approval of the permit; a roll‑call vote showed all present voting yes. The permit was approved with six conditions that staff will confirm at the business licensing and site development stages.
