Fayette County commissioners deny rezoning request for Paint Township RV park

The Fayette County Board of Commissioners voted June 22 to deny a rezoning application filed by JLB1 Properties, LLC to convert 16 parcels on Prairie Road in Paint Township from Farm Use to Regional Commerce for an RV park. Commissioner Tony Anderson moved “to deny the request for re-zoning of parcels 14001900100100-14001900101600 from Farm Use to Regional Commerce for the purpose of establishing an RV Park.” Commissioner Donald L. Fleak seconded the motion, and the board’s roll call was unanimous in favor.
The zoning commission had previously declined the rezoning at its May 13, 2026 hearing, and Paint Township trustees passed a resolution on June 11, 2026 opposing the application. Several residents attended the hearing, including Randy Welsh, Kenneth Kelly, Duane Matthews, Gail Allen, Justin Hagler and Dana Foor, and had the opportunity to comment. The board did not record additional supportive testimony at the county hearing and the motion to deny carried without dissent.
The parcels are listed in county records as 14001900100100 through 14001900101600. Because the county’s action was a denial at a public hearing convened under Revised Code Section 303.58, the zoning classification remains Farm Use unless a new application or appeal is filed.
