Business owners and residents press Cedarhurst for parking fixes; trustees plan repairs and will review permit options

Several speakers addressed parking conditions and parking policy at the July 13 meeting. Irene Redlus raised concerns about large potholes and unsafe areas in Cedarhurst Parking Lot #1; trustees replied that some repairs have been made, additional repairs are planned and the Board intends to eventually redo the entire parking lot. Redlus’s concerns prompted the Board to commit to continuing repairs.
Store owner Shaya Harari of Uncle Mochi asked that permit parking spaces be added to Parking Lot #9 to ease short errands; Harari said it is “very difficult to find parking, especially if he must run in and out throughout the day.” Mayor Weinstock said the Board will consider removing meters and adding permit parking after the pending traffic study, and staff told Harari there is a permit that allows a business owner to “park at a meter in parking lots without feeding the meter.” John Erbis also thanked the Board for snow removal and asked for meter removal in front of his house; the Board said it will consider that after the Washington Avenue study.
