The commission discussed follow-up phragmites (common reed) work at scattered locations around Nobska Pond. Staff said Natural Heritage provided comments requiring additional protections for the salt pond pennywort present in the treatment area, and that the contractor (Crawford Land Management) must ensure the pennywort is not disturbed. Alyssa told the commission "the state had some concerns with the salt pond pennywort" and that the staff will add the state's conditions to the order of conditions.
Commissioners voted to untable and then close the hearing and take it under advisement, with a requirement that Crawford provide the state-requested protocols and notify the commission if there are any complications during invasive-species work. Staff noted property-access permissions and that work is planned for the fall.
