Falmouth Conservation Commission issues several negative RDAs, continues key shore and dredging hearings

The Falmouth Conservation Commission voted on a series of routine requests for determinations and procedural continuances during its Aug. 5, 2026 meeting. Chair called roll for each motion as the commission approved ND2/ND3 determinations on after-the-fact seawall work at 26 Zell Street and on proposed porch conversions and septic upgrades at several East Falmouth properties. Several larger matters — including dredging at 34 Bridge Street and a stone revetment at 20 Associates Road — were continued at the applicants' requests to Aug. 26 and Oct. 14 to allow for additional agency review.
Staff and commissioners emphasized that NOIs are decided under both the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and the Falmouth Wetland Bylaw. Alyssa, the commission staff member, told the panel that "all forms received by the conservation department is forwarded to all commissioners and becomes part of the record," and recommended monitoring conditions where mitigation was proposed. The commission closed multiple hearings and took several items under advisement while incorporating state comments where necessary.
