Several residents used public comment to press the council on community amenities, public-safety funding and drinking-water messaging.
Multiple speakers — including Lucas Hutchins and Annette Rennie — urged the city to expand holiday decorations beyond the redevelopment plaza to 56th Street and other corridors, requested outlets and pole infrastructure to support displays, and compared Temple Terrace unfavorably to neighboring Plant City. Hutchins told council, "We want people to come to Temple Terrace to see our amazing city," and urged a broader, citywide holiday plan rather than a one-day "Winter Wonderland." Several residents also praised parade staff and suggested lighter police shirts for heat concerns.
On water quality and PFAS, Karen Michalski (a support chemist) said Temple Terrace tap water "meets the EPA regulations" and advised third-party testing when agencies or brands claim PFAS-free equipment. She urged care when evaluating marketing labels and recommended independent testing for turnout gear and other equipment.
Firefighters spoke in support of the August 18 general-obligation public-safety bond. Alec Cassie, vice president of the local firefighter union, said the bond would "expand Temple Terrace's ability to protect the people who call this city home" and asked residents to "vote yes for a safer Temple Terrace." The mayor reminded the public of the ballot language and urged residents to vote and refrain from spreading disinformation about the measure.
