The council advanced two technical code updates on Aug. 4 to bring Temple Terrace's stormwater and driveway standards in line with current engineering practice and neighboring jurisdictions.
Public Works Director Jason Warrenfeld said the drainage‑systems amendment clarifies requirements for basin mapping, dynamic modeling, clarified rainfall data and underdrain standards so that new development provides consistent, long‑term stormwater performance. "These revisions do not fundamentally change our stormwater policy," Warrenfeld said, adding the change converts common engineering practice into codified submission requirements. The driveway regulation amendment clarifies apron design, slopes and paver standards, sets requirements for removal of tree roots and adopts Hillsborough County typical details; staff noted an error on the financial‑impact statement will be corrected before the second reading. Both ordinances passed on first reading and were set for second readings on Aug. 17.
