Public Works Director Jason Warrenfieldfield said the drainage updates (section 12-834) require basin mapping, dynamic modeling, clarified rainfall data and minimum roadway-to-water-table separation, turning common engineering practices into enforceable submittal requirements. Staff said the changes aim to provide more consistent review outcomes and reduce downstream infrastructure and neighbor impacts.
Separately, amendments to driveway regulations (section 12-921) spell out apron design, ADA compliance, inspection requirements, paver standards and root-removal guidance; staff said modest repairs under existing square-foot exemptions would remain unaffected, while larger replacements and new driveways would follow the clarified standards. Council approved both items on first reading and scheduled second readings for Aug. 17 where corrected business-impact statements will be provided.
