Board proclaims Yom HaShoah; rabbi urges remembrance and education

Rabbi Chaim Zachos accepted the proclamation and framed remembrance as a call to education and moral action. "The holocaust was not only a tragedy for the Jewish people. It was a tragedy for humanity itself. 6,000,000 Jews, including 1,500,000 children, were systematically murdered," he said, adding that remembrance should lead to speaking out against antisemitism and other forms of hatred.
The board received the remarks and thanked Rabbi Zachos; the item was presented as part of the meeting's ceremonial agenda and no formal policy action followed.
