Board approves limited excavating storage on preserved Snavely farm

The board approved a request by Tyler and Tessa Snavely to permit limited nonfarm business storage on a preserved 17.17-acre parcel they recently acquired. The application allows use of 750 square feet of a 3,800-square-foot barn for storage of excavating equipment, plus outside storage totaling about 0.085 acres (roughly 3,738 square feet). The minutes note the property is currently bare land and that all business would be conducted off-site.
Rapho Township granted approval of the activity; applicants told the board there would be no more than four non-resident employees and hours of operation would be Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Some board members expressed concern about the proposed building location; Tyler Snavely said the siting decision was driven by topography, soil quality and a desire to avoid Breneman Road. Mr. Jered Hess moved to approve the application with the Board Summary conditions; Mr. Andrew Lehman seconded and the motion passed.
