The Lancaster County Agricultural Preserve Board voted to approve Meadow Vista Properties LLC’s request to subdivide a preserved farm into two tracts, one of roughly 60 acres containing existing buildings and another of about 53 acres of bare land. The board concluded the proposal “is consistent with the terms of the ACE and will not harm the economic viability of the farmland,” and approved the application with the conditions in the Board Summary.
Board members discussed statutory standards used to assess viability, including that at least 50% of the parcel be harvested cropland, pasture or grazing land, that 50% be Class I–IV soils, and that parcels generally be at least 10 acres and located in an agricultural security area. Mr. Andrew Lehman moved to deem the application consistent with the easement; Mr. Jeffrey Frey seconded and the motion was approved. The board did not record an individual roll-call tally in the minutes.
