The Cotati Planning Commission voted to authorize the chair to sign a letter of support for an OBAG (One Bay Area Grant) application seeking funding to repave Valparaiso Avenue between Lunt Hill and West Sierra Avenue, repave Hellman Lane and install bicycle and pedestrian facilities including class 3 bike lanes on Hellman.
Staff said the project was prioritized after funding fell short in the capital-improvement program and that the grant would help repave the road and add bicycle infrastructure. "We are prioritizing that effort to get the infrastructure built," staff said during the presentation.
During review, a commissioner and a resident noted the grant packet incorrectly references Golden Gate Transit service through Cotati; a commissioner said, "Golden Gate Transit does not come through Cotati anymore," and a resident confirmed route 101 had been removed from Cotati service. Staff acknowledged the concern and said references should be removed or corrected before final submission.
A commissioner moved that the chair sign the OBAG nomination letter of support; the motion was seconded and approved by the commissioners present. Staff will incorporate any needed corrections to transit descriptions before the application is finalized.
