The board then approved a second amendment: $2,500 to produce preliminary drawings and bid alternates for possible building extensions, with the caveat that accepting one of those alternates would increase Cedarwood’s work by an additional $8,425. "This $2,500 would essentially get us the number of the bid... it would get us that option," the chair said during explanation.
The board created a new budget code for the garage renovation and voted to fund the code with up to $95,800 to cover the engineering and anticipated work; the chair explained part of that sum depends on whether the board chooses an addition option. The chair said the town advertised forthcoming bids in the local paper and noted Cedarwood will assist in posting the bid package. The board carried the motions by voice vote.
The board indicated bids will be solicited soon and the highway department will coordinate with Cedarwood; no final construction contract was awarded at the meeting.
