Council waives two late fees after postal error; clerk notes Cle Elum's 6% water/sewer tax

Clerk Luanne reported two property owners in Seattle received town bills that were misdelivered and returned by the post office; after receiving an explanation from the Postmaster that the error was postal, the clerk recommended waiving the late fees those customers accrued. Councilor Allenbaugh moved to waive the late fees for both affected property owners; Sandretto seconded and the motion passed by majority vote.
Luanne also reported that Cle Elum notified the town it will add a 6% tax on all water and sewer services starting next month under Cle Elum Ordinance No. 1726. The council recorded the notice for awareness; the town attorney said he would look into the implications of Cle Elum's tax for South Cle Elum ratepayers and interlocal considerations.
