Board approves $1 million agreement with Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation to fund local health, food and youth programs

The Solano County Board of Supervisors approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation to accept $1,000,000 in funding for county programs.

Anne Putney, principal management analyst for the county administrator's office, described the distribution: $500,000 to 1st 5 (with $300,000 for the Vallejo Center operations and $200,000 for a Basic Needs Program), $280,000 for the mobile food pharmacy (including refrigeration replacement), $120,000 for probation services supporting youth in transition, and $100,000 to the Solano Resource Conservation District for experiences tied to Patwin ancestral land preservation and education.

Anthony Roberts, chairman for the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation (on the phone), thanked the county for the partnership and said the tribe's philanthropic contributions have exceeded $14.7 million to local causes in recent years. Supervisors publicly thanked the tribe; county staff said the tribe selected the distribution of funds and the county facilitates implementation. The board approved the agreement and recognized the unanticipated revenue appropriation; the clerk announced the vote 4-0.

Staff noted past impacts of Yocha Dehe funding, including nearly 18,747 patients assisted by the mobile pharmacy and distribution of millions of pounds of produce since the partnership began in 2017; full program reports are available from county staff.
