So I we always wanted just to leave something in there just in case," the speaker said, urging prudence in budgeting for disaster relief. The speaker said the town had moved disaster-relief responsibility to the highway department historically but that the board could hold a central reserve. The board confirmed the 2025 budget included earlier line items that had not realized spending and said they would try to present a more realistic budget in 2026.
