Mayor raises annexation and asks committee to explore potential merger with Fire District #7

Mayor DeVere told the council he would like staff to look into annexing the urban growth area west of Marie Avenue and to review the county’s water service plan related to that area. He also assigned the Public Safety Committee to contact Fire District #7 about the possibility of merging services and to investigate taking the question to a vote.
"He would like to look into annexing the urban growth area west of Marie Avenue along with the water service plan from the county; and, assigned the Public Safety Committee to contact Fire District #7 in regards to merging and going to a vote," the minutes state. Council took no formal action to begin annexation or a merger process at the May 19 meeting and directed staff to report back with information.
