Purchasing staff recommended Conference Technologies Inc. for AV upgrades tied to the facility expansion's Swap-and-Shop entrance, meeting room, signage and training uses.
Commissioner Howe expressed concern about the cost and urged a more conservative approach: "I'm not comfortable voting for this 1. I think that we should be more conservative in our approach... I don't think we need to spend that much money for this," he said. Solid Waste staff responded that the price reflects commercial-grade displays, wiring and installation and that consumer TVs run continuously will fail sooner. After discussion the commission voted to defer the AV item to the March 26 meeting to allow for more information and one-on-one follow-up with staff; items 1, 3 and 4 from the bids report were approved as recommended.
