County to apply for $9.48M KDADS grant to support Comcare crisis stabilization center

Kaufman said the Community Crisis Center has operated since 2015 and that the funding offsets costs of serving uninsured and underinsured people and supports 24/7 services including telephone and on-site care. He said awards will be announced on April 1, 2025. "The grant request is for $9,480,000," Kaufman said. The commission approved submission of the application and authorized the chairman or designee to sign necessary documents and to accept the award if made.
Commissioners noted the county's investments in an expanded crisis center and anticipated discussions about construction costs if federal/state reimbursement covers operating but not capital expenses.
