"We had a conversation on PFOS, and you should know more about this than I, but they're thinking about changing the detect level from 3.5 to 3," Newton said, adding that the associated cost impact could be substantial. He asked staff to research the change further.
Newton also summarized a draft budget projection of $13.66 per acre-foot for the coming year, saying the budget remains in draft form and will be finalized next month.
The council treated the update as informational and asked staff to follow up with additional research on the PFOS standard and budget implications.
