A volunteer at the Ingles Equestrian Center told the council that recent vendor activity left grease stains, dumped briquettes and small plastic parts across memorial brickwork and pony‑wall areas, creating safety and cleanup concerns for city staff.
"I'm just heartbroken at the damage that they did to the Cafe De Azevedo Memorial Area with food grease... They didn't try to clean up anything," Jim Pollard said, describing piles of trash and small plastic valve‑type parts scattered across walking areas. He said staff had to collect PVC pipe and other debris and asked whether the city would require cleanup fees or better oversight for future events.
City staff replied that damages are repairable, that the city had retained the event damage deposit, and that staff will meet with event promoters to require security, a parking plan and likely a security presence the promoter would pay for before returning to the venue.
