Annie told the council capital amendment No. 12 would allocate $200,000 of GOMESA funds across three coastal projects, beginning with a North Shore living shoreline on Lake Pontchartrain near Goose Point that includes wave attenuation features and aims to provide habitat for local fauna; construction was estimated to begin in fall 2026.
The amendment also includes design, permitting and land-acquisition work for a water-control structure at Old Spanish Trail for the Fritchie Marsh project and repurposes funds from a closed Fritchie Marsh Salt Bayou project ($508,007.19) toward upcoming work. The finance items were referred to the full council for consideration.
