County manager outlines public-pack rollout; residents urge housing limits and data-center moratorium

County Manager Jerry Jones told the Council the Council Office completed a draft public pack and will move toward standardizing requests; department directors will begin presenting regular departmental updates at Council meetings. Mr. Ozman briefed the Council on Public Works work-order status and follow-up meetings with Elliott Island residents were scheduled to address long-term infrastructure repairs.
During public comment, resident Tawes Harper Jr. opposed increased housing developments; Warden Don Satterfield spoke in favor of increasing Council pay during the compensation discussion; and resident David Bevereley urged the Council to implement a data-center moratorium. The Council directed Mr. Jones to review processes used in surrounding counties and report back with recommendations by the August 4, 2026 meeting.
