Jennifer Leverenz, a resident who identified herself at the meeting, asked the board for a letter of support to accompany a petition to New York State DOT seeking to move a 35 mph speed limit sign north of a new park entrance and to add a 'children at play' sign. "I'm asking the board for a letter of support," Leverenz said, adding she had already spoken with Andy Quill at NYSDOT and intended to gather other resident signatures.
Board members discussed state practice and cautioned that the state typically asks law enforcement to perform enforcement and may be reluctant to install 'children at play' signs because of liability considerations; a board member recommended gathering letters from law enforcement. The Chair said the board would prepare a draft letter to circulate to members before the workshop so the resident could include it with her petition.
