A rear-yard setback variance for a 422-square-foot patio cover in Mandeville was approved by the Board of Adjustments after testimony that the lot’s irregular triangular shape created the encroachment. Applicant representative Frank Bergeron said neighbors had provided letters of no objection and that the project would not adversely affect sight lines.
Board members noted prior precedent when dealing with irregular lots and agreed the request fit similar decisions in the past. The motion to grant the variance passed on a unanimous voice/roll vote among the members present.
