Early inspection data: small sample shows mixed outcomes; officials expect fuller picture with more inspections
Summary
Inspectors have inspected about 50–60 homes so far; Brown said initial results split roughly into quarters (fail, pass, inaccessible, exempt) but that historic failure rates around 50% could reappear as the dataset grows.

Parish staff cautioned that early inspection results reflect a small sample and may not represent final program outcomes. Tim Brown said the current inspected sample "is about 50 or 60 homes" and that the immediate breakdown is roughly 25% failures, 25% passes, 25% no access and 25% exempt; he added some failed systems have already been repaired and passed on recheck.
Councilman Coogel and others noted historic failure rates near 50% and urged the parish to expect the failure percentage to rise as inspections continue. "That's the historic number that we've seen. It's about 50%," Brown acknowledged about past data and said the initial 25% fail rate likely reflects the small sample size; staff said larger datasets will give a clearer picture.
