One resident said the provision would be difficult to enforce for owners who visit only on weekends and rely on a service, noting receptacles often remain at the roadside between visits. Board members acknowledged the enforcement challenge and asked the town attorney and ZEO to craft language with "common sense" phrasing that is enforceable. The town scheduled a second public hearing on the zoning enforcement officer's recommendations for Jan. 13, 2026.
Town staff and board members also discussed alternatives such as specifying a distance from the roadside or limiting visibility rather than an absolute prohibition. The board decided to return the draft to legal counsel for clearer, enforceable language and to bring it back for action at a later meeting.
