Redfield council adopts change to city vacation policy

The Redfield City Council adopted Ordinance No. 04-2025 on Sept. 2, 2025, amending section 2.44.020 of the municipal code to clarify vacation approval and eligibility. The ordinance says vacation must be approved in advance by a supervisor or the city finance officer and that no appointive officer or employee may take vacation until 90 days after employment without their immediate supervisor’s approval.
The ordinance was presented by Finance Officer Adam L. Hansen for a second reading and was adopted after a motion by Jessi Lewis, seconded by Brent Derscheid. The meeting minutes record that the motion "carried on a roll call vote with all members voting \"Yes.\"" The ordinance includes the signature of Mayor Frank Schwartz and was dated Aug. 18, 2025 for the ordinance text; the minutes record the adoption date as Sept. 2, 2025 and a publication date of Sept. 10, 2025.
