Council OKs shared use of police training/shooting range with Jersey County; county to reimburse $75,000

The Jerseyville City Council approved an intergovernmental agreement enabling Jersey County to use the city's police training and shooting range. Commissioner Zachary Crawford moved the item; Commissioner Anthony Steckel seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Chief Blackorby told the council the range "has been modified to meet standards of regulation height and as well as other added improvements to allow for various training courses by City and County." City Attorney William Strang explained the contract formalizes shared use and cost-sharing: "the County reimbursing the City $75,000.00 to be paid in increments of $25,000.00 for the next three (3) years." The agreement is intended to allow county and city officers to train together at city facilities; the minutes do not specify insurance, scheduling, or long-term maintenance cost allocations beyond the $75,000 reimbursement noted.
