Planning board members agreed to draft a standardized checklist for sign and facade applications designed to cut back-and-forth with applicants and reduce incomplete submissions. Chair (Speaker 2) said applicants should provide a scaled drawing, color rendering and the manufacturer name so staff "can do that" lookup and review efficiently.
The proposal would require applicants to submit either the fabricator's shop drawing or a manufacturer illustration, dimensions, and representative photos of the building with the proposed sign location. "If they're having it produced, that's usually something you can request from the manufacturer," Speaker 1 said. The board discussed making the checklist an intake/deficiency form so applications missing items are returned before being placed on the agenda, a step Speaker 1 said would save staff and applicants time.
