The Story City City Council met Aug. 6 and recorded a series of unanimous motions, including approval of a residential site plan and the hiring of a police officer.
Council Member Ostrem moved to amend the agenda to add Kieran Gogerty to the Citizen Appearance list; the motion carried with Ostrem, Phillips, Solberg and Abrams voting aye. Council later approved the site plan for The Reserves of Story City and authorized the city engineer to approve any note changes after Planning & Zoning recommended approval with the engineer’s comments. Council Member Phillips moved to approve the hiring of Stephen Henderson as a police officer; that motion also passed with four aye votes. The council also voted to defer approval of the Aug. 4, 2026 regular meeting minutes.
