A board presentation laid out the district comprehensive improvement plan (DCIP), a continuation of work from prior years with modifications to address current needs. The presenter noted the district was placed on the state target list two years earlier and is using available flexibility options to amend the plan.
"So mainly, the plan focuses on improving and boosting student achievement in ELA and mathematics for all subgroups, also expanding our MTSS plan, aligning our work with the Portrait of a Graduate, and then also implementation of some of the new K to A curriculum," the presenter said. The board approved the updated plan by voice vote.
Board members asked questions and the presenter summarized targeted supports, teacher training and data-driven instruction intended to raise subgroup performance metrics. Staff said they would continue to report progress in future board meetings.
