Town council reviews 2024 water production, says Lakeside must add water facilities to avoid exceeding 80% capacity

The discussion, led by the council and the town engineer, recorded that “In April of 2024 the Town issued a letter to Lakeside to notify them at least 9 months in advance, as required by the DRRA, that they needed to construct water facilities as required to meet the demands and for the Town to remain below 80% capacity.” Council members and staff said only preliminary plans from Lakeside have been submitted to GMB for review and that no construction has been approved or started. Council members also discussed the number of permits issued in relation to demand but did not state a specific count. The workshop ended with a procedural motion to adjourn; no formal approvals or directives beyond the review were recorded.

The council did not take a formal vote on water-system expansions or permit moratoria during the workshop. The meeting record shows the workshop was closed at 5:51 p.m. after Commissioner Rose Potter moved to adjourn, a motion seconded by Commissioner Walter Chase and unanimously approved. The council indicated it would continue monitoring development submittals and the town’s production data in follow-up meetings.
