Council declines schematic placement, agrees to partner with VFW Auxiliary on sign location
Summary
A motion to approve the VFW's schematic sign placement near the Calumet Colosseum failed for lack of a second; council instead voted 6-0 to work with the VFW Auxiliary to locate an appropriate sign site on village-owned property.

Trustee Peggy Germain presented a schematic for VFW signage and proposed placement near the Calumet Colosseum; Trustee Virginia Dwyer moved to approve the request if the VFW proceeded, but the motion failed for lack of a second. The council continued land-use discussion and cited uncertainty about right-of-way requirements.
Trustee Kelly Ryan subsequently moved, seconded by Trustee Bernice Smith, that the Village work in partnership with the VFW Auxiliary to find an appropriate location on Village-owned property for the proposed signage. That motion carried 6-0, directing staff to collaborate with the VFW Auxiliary rather than approving the original schematic placement as presented.
