County rep: Otsego County approves 2025 budget with positions vacant; transfer-station redesign noted

County Representative Meg Kennedy updated the New Lisbon Town Board on county-level developments, including the County Board's approval of the 2025 budget with an additional $218,219 over the tax cap. Kennedy said the county has 591 positions with 103 currently vacant and that she has again requested the allocation numbers for workers' compensation to determine the per-firefighter cost.
Kennedy also described the IGA Committee's meeting with the This is Cooperstown tourism group about adding events to a shared calendar and noted that the Southern transfer station is being redesigned to eventually pull out organics and construction debris from the waste stream. She said haulers reported recyclables are sometimes dumped in with the trash and that she will follow up with the Solid Waste department.
