Highway Superintendent Donald Smith reported multiple maintenance and procurement issues to the New Lisbon Town Board on Dec. 10. He said the 2009 Freightliner slid into a guardrail during a storm, ruptured an air tank and is awaiting a replacement part; the excavator, with about 2,000 hours, is in the shop for a pin and bushing replacement. "After that it ruptured an air tank and they are waiting on the part to fix that," Smith said when describing the truck incident.
Supt. Smith also said the crew completed repairs to cited fuel pumps and that he submitted paperwork and photos to the NYSDEC. He reported town repair costs for 2024 at $43,200, compared with $45,000 in 2023 and $33,200 in 2022, and outlined plans to use the old garage as a salt shed and to build the Turnbull Bridge deck in sections once lumber arrives. He noted driveway permit activity for Coyote Hollow Park, approving one permit while another requires a new culvert before sign-off.
