The City of Amsterdam common council moved to authorize a contract with Adirondack Customs LLC to provide lawn-care and vegetation management services at city-owned and neglected properties. The resolution listed competing bids — First Class Property Services ($100 per address), Adirondack Customs LLC ($48.61 per address), Outdoor Designs ($90 per address) and Zenela's Lawn Care ($75 per address) — and directed the mayor to enter an agreement for Adirondack's bid. The contract is set for twice-monthly service in May and June 2026 and will terminate on Oct. 31, 2026.
Mayor (S3) urged the council to accept the low bid, saying he had spoken with the company's representative and that the firm would coordinate cutting with garbage pickup and dedicate staff to Amsterdam. "They're the real deal," the Mayor said, later quoting the company: "He goes, 'I'll cut it as often as you want me to.'" The clerk's reading named Alderman Carpenter as the sponsor of the resolution. Council members answered in the affirmative when the motion was called and the clerk recorded the vote as aye.
The resolution aims to reduce vegetation overgrowth at numerous city-owned parcels and to control costs compared with higher bids. The mayor and other council members said they expected staff to monitor the contractor's performance during the initial term and to use the contract as-needed after June. The mayor is now authorized to execute the agreement under the terms read into the record.
