The Water Department reported that Well 1-3 is fully operational and that Plant 2 Well 2-2 remains offline until an AOP is certified. Board members heard that the SCADA system installation is nearing completion with Eagle Control performing final work, and that an evaluation of the ground tank roof and structure has been completed with next steps for repairs or replacement underway.
The minutes record a grant commitment from Senator Chuck Schumer and Congressman Tom Suozzi for more than $1.0 million to partially fund a new tank. Coordination between the South Farmingdale Water District and the Farmingdale Water Department is noted as working well. The minutes also reference a recent watermain break at the Howitt Pool, repaired by Merrick Utilities in coordination with the Farmingdale School District.
