Board presses for engineering review, sets escrow for farm subdivision proposal

Josh, a co-director of the farm operation before the board, said the group purchased the Sigler farm to keep it in agricultural use and that the subdivision would allow two long-term residents in existing mobile homes to own the parcels where they live while keeping most land in farming and conservation.
The engineer described the parent parcel as about 73.75 acres and proposed creating two very small residential lots (about 0.5 and 0.75 acres) and a large remaining agricultural parcel. Board members repeatedly questioned whether wells and septic systems could be safely and legally installed on 0.5-acre lots and whether creating permanent lots around mobile homes was prudent. "It's very hard to get a well and a septic on 0.5 acre if everything's not perfect," the Chair said, urging tests and health-department review.
The board agreed to require further review and set up an escrow for engineering comments before advancing the application; staff will provide instructions to the applicant for escrow payment and consultant circulation.
