Town holds public hearing on 2025 budget; proposes 2.5% levy increase (~$19,000)

Supervisor Edward Lentz opened a public hearing on the town’s 2025 Preliminary Budget and said the town could levy up to a 3.8% increase because of carryover from previous years, but the proposed budget sets a 2.5% increase. "The proposed budget is at a 2.5% increase. This equals approximately a $19,000.00 increase in the total tax levy over the 2024 budget," Lentz said.
With no comments from the floor, Councilwoman Nancy Martin-Mathewson moved and Councilman Brian Ryther seconded a motion to close the hearing; the motion carried 3 Ayes/0 Nays. The board discussed that any final plan or adjustments to the levy or budget appropriations will be resolved at the November meeting before adoption.
