Design tweaks keep Joltine Park equipment, move zip line away from shelter

Staff presented a redesign for the Joltine Park playground that preserves the originally approved equipment while moving the zip line to create a buffer from the shelter; the new surface area is roughly the same as the original design.
Staff member (speaker S5) walked aldermen through the redesign, saying it retains all the equipment from the original proposal but shifts the zip line and some play elements to preserve a buffer from the shelter.
"The ADA carousel ... is relocated on the north side," staff said, and described how compound spinners and other elements are re-arranged so the play area remains spacious rather than scrunched next to the shelter. Staff emphasized the redesign keeps essentially the same footprint — roughly 11,062 square feet originally versus about 11,040 square feet in the redesign, a reduction of around 20–22 square feet.
Committee members raised maintenance concerns about slope and mowing where the zip line will descend toward a manhole; one committee member asked about the slope and whether the new grade would create a mowing challenge. Staff agreed to obtain grade/slope specifications and confirm how the contractor plans to handle the transition areas.
