The Common Council voted July 21 to delay making an offer on land for a proposed Public Safety Building until members of the Fire and EMS Districts and the nearby towns reach agreement on how to share utility costs. The motion, moved by Alderperson Stevenson and seconded by Alderperson Ripp, passed on roll call.
Stevenson told the council the Town of Lodi and the Town of West Point were unwilling to share the cost of running utilities to the site and said those utility costs "may cost $800,000 or more," a factor that drove the recommendation to pause the land purchase. No formal agreement with the towns was recorded in the minutes; the council directed that no offer be made until cost-sharing is resolved.
