Resident group seeks conservancy designation for Third Terrace site

Mike Goethel, speaking on behalf of Friend of the Third Terrace, told the Committee of the Whole the fledgling group has three immediate goals for the donated parcel: to document its history; to restrict use to what it was donated for and align it with city goals, including seeking designation as an urban conservancy area; and to repair and preserve existing artifacts. "They have three goals for the new group: 1. Document its history 2. Restrict the use to what it was donated for and align it with City goals – designate it as an urban conservancy area. 3. Repair and preserve existing artifacts," Goethel said during public comment.
Goethel said some community members favor developing a dog park on the site but that his group intends to offer a more robust presentation on plans and stewardship at a later meeting. The committee did not take action on the proposal during the Aug. 4 meeting; Goethel was listed among others attending as an outside participant in the meeting record.
