Council hears engineers' changes for Fair Street reconstruction; retaining wall and sewer relocation proposed

James Lincoln, Utilities/Streets and Parks staff, walked the council through proposed changes to the Fair Street reconstruction project, saying the work will include adding a retaining wall, altering the angle of a slope and relocating a sewer main out from under Goeres Park. Lincoln said engineers will provide a financial proposal and that council approval will likely be required soon, possibly at a special meeting.
Lincoln characterized the Fair Street work as "expected to be a difficult project." The minutes record that staff will await the engineers' cost estimates; council did not take a funding vote at the July 21 meeting and no dollar amounts were provided in the minutes.
