Committee reviews CEP subdivision map; requests clearer definitions of 'occupancy paid' and participation

Staff presented a GIS-created CEP subdivision map showing which subdivisions have opted into the conservation and education program (CEP) and explained the colors: tan blocks indicate where building permits have been issued and other colors indicate occupancy-paid, occupancy-unpaid or no-occupancy status. "As you can see, the CEP subdivision map that GIS has put together, it shows, where the subdivisions which have opted into the program are," the staff member said.
Committee members pressed for clearer definitions and a corrected legend. One member noted that the map labels for occupancy status are confusing and asked that the 'no occupancy' and 'occupancy unpaid' categories be combined or relabeled so they reflect whether homes are occupied and therefore paying into the CEP. The chair and staff agreed to update the language on the map and supply definitions.
The chair also reported that the CEP account contains about $20,000 currently and projected additional receipts over the next year; members discussed using either the committee's own funds, a city budget ask, or external grants to launch priority projects.
