Council adopts ordinance banning dogs from athletic fields

A resident at the hearing supported the proposal. "We are a pro dog city, but we just want to mitigate any potential hygienic issues that we could run into with our youth athletes playing on sports fields," the parks representative said. Councilors clarified the ordinance is content-neutral, applies to signage and public property rules were referenced elsewhere in the meeting, and that enforcement would be handled by code enforcement with customary penalties for violations.
