Assembly appoints SEASWA alternate, adds Planning Commission member and recognizes EMT graduates

The Assembly appointed Assistant Public Works Director Thomas Rummel as the Borough’s alternate representative to the Southeast Alaska Solid Waste Authority (SEASWA) to provide backup representation when Director Marohl is unavailable. The appointment passed without opposition.
Separately, the Assembly appointed Thomas Kowalske to the Planning Commission to serve until October 2026, acting on a submitted letter of interest. Emergency Services Director Hankins also recognized five community members—Carin Christensen, Luke Sinclair, Edwin Loyo, Nick Espeseth and Sadia Aurna—who completed the EMT1 course.
