Public Works Director Marohl requested a one‑year extension of the Borough’s Municipal Solid Waste Transport and Disposal Agreement with Republic Services while the Southeast Alaska Solid Waste Authority (SEASWA) conducts a regional study. The Assembly approved the extension.
Director Marohl estimated the monetary value of the one‑year extension at $510,000–$550,000 at a rate of $207.40 per ton, effective Sept. 1, 2026 through Aug. 31, 2027. The extension retains service while the regional study concludes later in 2026.
