The committee discussed a recent supply-rate update from National Grid effective Aug. 1. The chair read the notice and said, "National Grid redid their rates for power" and read a supply figure aloud as "$0.17185 per kilogram." He contrasted that with the town's aggregation options and said residents who remain in the aggregation could see roughly "16 to 18%" savings compared with certain alternatives; the chair added that when he joined the aggregation he was "saving over $85 a month."
Members noted that Colonial Power is the town's aggregation partner and that the town website includes a notice and instructions on how to opt in or opt out. The chair suggested public outreach so residents understand choices and potential savings. Will Longo, the newly appointed member, said he had not read the materials yet but agreed the savings sounded like a benefit for residents.
