Final easement secured for French Creek Greenway Phase I; Council moves to advertise bids

City Engineer Ryan Cummins reported that the final required property easement for the French Creek Greenway Trail Phase I project had been signed by the last needed property owner, clearing the way for the City to advertise for construction bids under Resolution No. R-10-26.
Cummins told Council that the project remains constrained by grant rules that prevent a formal contract award before July 1, but that advertising earlier increases the chance of receiving competitive bids and allows work such as culvert and drainage extensions to begin this year. Mayor Bryan Jensen and Law Director John Gasior supported scheduling a Special Meeting on June 1 to initiate advertisement one week earlier than the Regular Meeting schedule would allow. Council raised no objection to the approach.
Staff said bids would be advertised the week after a June 8 Regular Meeting if a Special Meeting is not held, and that bids are expected to be received by the end of June with potential award in early July.
